Fire Inspections/ Site-Plan Review
Many years ago, AFD conducted routine fire inspections of local businesses and industries. With the decline in available staffing and an increase in the volume of requests for service, AFD has had to change to a complaint-based system. If a person contacts AFD and has a fire safety concern in a public building, a Fire Inspector will conduct an investigation and act accordingly.
Site-Plan Reviews are conducted whenever there is a proposed construction project within the City of Adrian with the exception of singe family dwellings. AFD personnel work with other city departments in identifying and addressing issues while still in the planning process. The City of Adrian has adopted the International Fire Code for all buildings inside the city limits.
Questions regarding Fire Inspections or Site-Plan Reviews may be directed to Chief Aric Massingill or Lieutenant Mike Springer.
