Angela was born and raised in Adrian and her Great Great Great Great Grandfather, James Sword, was the first President of Adrian in 1853 preceding the first mayoral election. She is a 1987 graduate of Adrian High School and graduated with Highest Distinction Honors from Purdue University in 1991.
Angela is an educator at Siena Heights University and currently serves on the Title IX Advisory Board and as an Advisor of the Student Athletic Leadership Team. She is also the President of the Dance Coaches Association for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Angela is married to Larry Heath Jr (AHS 97) and has 5 adult children that all graduated from Adrian Public Schools.
Mayor Heath will have office hours Monday 8:30am-10:00am, Tuesday 1:30pm-3pm, Thursday 1:30-3pm and Friday 9am-10:30am.
Allen was elected to the City Commission in November 2015 and is serving his second 4 year term. Allen was born in Toledo, Ohio and has been an Adrian resident for 34 years. A graduate of Madison High school, he attended Jackson College and Siena Heights University majoring in Business and minoring in Human Services. Allen has been a local businessman for over 15 years and currently owns and operates Morning Fresh Bakeries and Biggies Pizza.
Allen has two boys, Lucas and Max.
Lad was elected to the Adrian City Commission in 2015, and was re-elected in 2019. Lad is a 1973 graduate of Adrian High School. He has worked in some segment of the photography industry since 1980, currently co-owner of wePhoto, LLC. Married to Debbie Strayer with 2 adult children and one grandchild.
Brad was elected to the commission in November 2017. He was born and raised in Adrian, graduating from Adrian High School in 1996. He then attended Michigan State University and graduated with Bachelor and Master degrees in Accounting. After working for a year in Chicago at Ernst and Young, he returned to Adrian and is the Chief Financial Officer at Kapnick Insurance Group.
Brad has a son and daughter and two golden retrievers.
Mary was selected to the Commission in December 2018, and was elected to a 4 year term in 2019. She is a 27 year resident of Adrian and has been actively involved in many community projects. She is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a degree in business, and graduated from The University of Toledo with a Master’s in Education, concentrating in Higher Education Administration. She’s been employed at Siena Heights University since 2007. Mary is married to John Roberts and they have three children, all Adrian High School graduates.
Elected to the City Commission in 2019, Gordon D. Gauss was born and raised in Adrian, Michigan. He attended high school at Howe Military School, and graduated Adrian College with a B.A. in Accounting. He also obtained a M.B.A. in Finance from Pepperdine University. Gordon also held a 32 year Executive Management Career at Toyota U.S.A. In 2017, Gordon was appointed to the Adrian City Planning Commission.
Gordon is married to JoAnn Turco Gauss, and has two grown children, Gordon and Gillian.
