The Mayor has called a Special Meeting on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 7pm in the City Chambers, at 159 East Maumee Street, Adrian, Michigan 49221 to discuss the future decision to be made by the Commission on whether the City of Adrian will remain opted in or choose to opt out of commercial production and distribution of recreational marihuana.
As of December 6, 2018 recreational possession and smoking of recreational marihuana for individuals over the age of 21 became legal in the state of Michigan. Local governments, including the Adrian City Commission, do not have the authority to ban adult possession or smoking on private property. It is now legal statewide.
The only decision currently before the Commission is whether to allow retail establishments, similar to the current medical marihuana facilities, to grow, process, and sell recreational marihuana in Adrian. The meeting is open to the public, and the Commission welcomes your input on this specific matter at the Special meeting.
