Safety City is for children entering Kindergarten in the fall. The program will be divided up into three areas: classroom time, time in the “city”, and time spent with a speaker on the theme of the day. Certified teachers will head each classroom and the “City” will be headed up by Adrian Police Department’s John Birdwell.
This year’s program will have one week-long session. This will start on Monday, June 15th and end on Friday, June 19th. The time each day is 9:00-11:30 a.m. There will be a short reception in the classrooms on Friday after class for parents. All activities will be held at The Centre located at 1800 W. US 223, Adrian.
The week’s schedule is:
Monday – Bicycle Safety (Bike Helmets will be handed out)
Tuesday – Fire Safety
Wednesday – Electrical Safety
Thursday – Poison Safety
Friday – School Bus Safety – along with a school bus ride.
Each day your child will be bringing home a letter with a summary of the day’s activities and what will be covered the next day. Please ask for this letter and share with your child about their experiences that day. This will allow you the chance to reinforce those things your child has learned.
We will be providing bike helmets to the children participating in this year’s program and they will be bringing them home on Friday.
There is a $25 fee for city residents/Centre Members and a $30 fee for non-residents/non-members. Register online here or by visiting The Centre’s website at www.thecentre.info or at the Information Desk at The Centre. Registration deadline is May 30, 2015.
